Summary

χωρίς φυσικά να αναφέρει τίποτα σε εκείνη。Μια εκδρομή στην εξοχή και ένα ατύχημα θα γίνει η αφορμή για να έρθουν πιο κοντά οι δυο τους。 Μετά από την παραμονή τους στην εξοχή， ό，τι έμεινε στη μέση ανάμεσά τους μεταφέρεται στα λονδρέζικα σαλόνια， εν όψει και της σεζόν που ξεκινά。 Μιας σεζόν κατά τη διάρκεια της οποίας η Ονόρια ευελπιστεί να βρει -επιτέλους- σύζυγο。 Όμως， τόσο τα δικά της συναισθήματα， όσο και εκείνα του Μάρκους， θα ανατρέψουν όλα τα σχέδιά της。。。Το βιβλίο αυτό είναι μικρό σε όγκο， ευχάριστο στην ανάγνωση， χιουμοριστικό， ανάλαφρο και γρήγορο。 Το στόρυ βασίζεται στο κλασικό μοτίβο αμετανόητος-εργένης-λόρδος-ερωτεύεται-λαίδη-αδελφή-κολλητού-του-και-ζήσαν-αυτοί-καλά-κι-εμείς-καλύτερα。 Αρχικά， τίποτα δεν προϊδεάζει τους ήρωές μας για το πόσο ταιριαστό ζευγάρι είναι και για τον έρωτα που θα γεννηθεί ανάμεσά τους。 Θα πρέπει να συμβεί κάτι απρόσμενο （view spoiler）[ένα ατύχημα που θα οδηγήσει τους δυο τους να περάσουν χρόνο μαζί και να έρθουν πιο κοντά， αφού η Ονόρια ουσιαστικά θα γίνει η νοσοκόμα του Μάρκους και θα εγκατασταθεί στην κρεβατοκάμαρά του （hide spoiler）]， ώστε να τους κάνει να αρχίσουν να βλέπουν ο ένας τον άλλον （και τα προτερήματά τους） με άλλο μάτι。 Και τελικά， οι δυο τους συνειδητοποιούν πως είναι φτιαγμένοι ο ένας για τον άλλον και πως θέλουν να περάσουν την υπόλοιπη ζωή τους μαζί， τρελά ερωτευμένοι κι ευτυχισμένοι。。。Στη συγκεκριμένη περίπτωση， το πράγμα είναι υπερβολικά εύκολο: Δεν υπάρχει αντίζηλος-η。 Μια κακιασμένη λαίδη， ας πούμε， που θέλει τον ήρωα για την πάρτη της και καταφεύγει στην ίντριγκα για να τα καταφέρει。 Δεν υπάρχουν εχθροί που θέλουν να καταστρέψουν έναν από τους δύο。 Δεν υπάρχουν καν τα προσχήματα που θα απαγόρευαν στους ήρωες να μη συναντιούνται όποτε θέλουν， αφού είναι οικογενειακοί φίλοι εδώ και χρόνια και έχουν κερδίσει αυτό το 'προνόμιο'。 Και παρόλο που υπάρχουν αρκετοί ήρωες που περιτριγυρίζουν το πρωταγωνιστικό ζευγάρι σχεδόν συνεχώς， το στόρυ είναι κυρίως επικεντρωμένο επάνω τους， οπότε η επαφή μεταξύ τους γίνεται ακόμα πιο εύκολη。 Γενικά， όλα σε αυτή την ιστορία φάνηκαν να έγιναν εύκολα。 Και αυτό μπορεί να είναι καλό， αφού το βιβλίο κύλησε αβίαστα και γρήγορα， αλλά από την άλλη δεν υπήρξε και καμία ένταση， καμία κορύφωση， έστω λίγη αγωνία μέχρι το τέλος， βρε αδελφέ！ Αυτό σίγουρα του στέρησε ένα αστεράκι από εμένα。Εκτός από τις χιουμοριστικές σκηνές ανάμεσα στο ζευγάρι， αλλά και στις αντιδράσεις όλων πριν και κατά τη διάρκεια της ετήσιας μουσικής βραδιάς των Σμάιθι-Σμιθ， που πραγματικά βγάζουν αβίαστα γέλιο， αυτό που μου άρεσε περισσότερο ήταν οι αναφορές της συγγραφέα σε άλλα της βιβλία。 Γενικά， ψοφάω να βρίσκω κάτι τέτοια easter eggs σε διαφορετικά βιβλία του ίδιου συγγραφέα - αρκεί να τα έχω διαβάσει， ώστε να τα。。。 πιάνω！！！ Έτσι κι εδώ， εκτός από τις αρκετές αναφορές σε ήρωες που έχουμε συναντήσει στα βιβλία των Μπρίτζερτον， υπάρχει και μια μικρή αναφορά στη σειρά "Οικογένεια Μπέβελστοκ" （view spoiler）[το περιβόητο μυθιστόρημα Η δεσποινίς Μπάτεργουορθ και ο Τρελός Βαρόνος （hide spoiler）]。 Σίγουρα αυτό το βιβλίο δεν συγκαταλέγεται ανάμεσα στα πιο αγαπημένα μου -τόσο από τις συγκεκριμένες εκδόσεις όσο και από το συγκεκριμένο είδος-， αλλά πέρασα καλά διαβάζοντάς το， απόλαυσα τους χαλαρούς ρυθμούς του γνωρίζοντας ότι δεν μπορούσε να δώσει κάτι παραπάνω， συμπάθησα τους ήρωες και χάρηκα ειλικρινά που έγινε η αφορμή να γνωρίσω καλύτερα την οικογένεια Σμάιθι-Σμιθ。 Ανυπομονώ να διαβάσω τις ιστορίες και των υπόλοιπων μελών της！ ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]> 。。。more

2nd read。 Cute friends to lovers romance。 This one has the nursing a sick patient romance trope with a splash of misunderstood intentions。 Although this couple did become friends as adults， they annoyed each other as kids。 Honoria and Marcus have a long history， but finally see each other in a different light for the first time。 The Smythe-Smith musicals are well known through multiple Julia Quinn historical romance series， so I really enjoyed that one generation of Smythe-Smiths got their own s 2nd read。 Cute friends to lovers romance。 This one has the nursing a sick patient romance trope with a splash of misunderstood intentions。 Although this couple did become friends as adults， they annoyed each other as kids。 Honoria and Marcus have a long history， but finally see each other in a different light for the first time。 The Smythe-Smith musicals are well known through multiple Julia Quinn historical romance series， so I really enjoyed that one generation of Smythe-Smiths got their own series。 Honoria is desperate for a husband both because she is lonely and so she can get out of playing in the horrid musicals。 Unbeknownst to her， Marcus has been chasing off her would-be suitors after his best friend （Honoria’s older brother） asks him to watch out for her while he is out of the country。 Honoria is a well-developed lovely character。 Unfortunately， Marcus is not as well developed。 We hear more about him in his youth， but almost nothing about him as an adult。 While it does have its moments， this is definitely more of a slow and steady romance progression than a story of passion。 Nothing wrong with that， it’s just an observation。 。。。more

This is one of my favourite books by Julia Quinn。 It was very lighthearted with lots of fun banter between the main characters。 I liked that the heroine was quite sensible and did what needed to be done。 Honoria and Marcus were very cute together。 I also appreciated the fact that there was not a huge third act conflict that led to a big fight。 For the most part they handled their problems like adults。

I have a real soft spot for Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series and spin offs and I wasn’t disappointed。 I saw a few reviews before reading this book with people not liking Honoria because they felt she was a goody two-shoes， and this is probably opposite to the one thing I didn’t like about the book。She was a goody two-shoes born out of a desperate need to be noticed and to be good because her brother got in a duel and was forced to leave the country or be hanged。 She was alone with distant parents I have a real soft spot for Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series and spin offs and I wasn’t disappointed。 I saw a few reviews before reading this book with people not liking Honoria because they felt she was a goody two-shoes， and this is probably opposite to the one thing I didn’t like about the book。She was a goody two-shoes born out of a desperate need to be noticed and to be good because her brother got in a duel and was forced to leave the country or be hanged。 She was alone with distant parents still upset over the actions of her brother and little neglected。 She was behaved because she didn’t know how else to act and she wanted to be a part of the quartet because she wanted to honour the family especially since she didn’t feel she really had one anymore。 So I didn’t mind her being well behaved， what I did mind was her actions at the end of the book， completely out of character， without even a thought for being behaved or thinking about her actions and it felt so odd and out of character。 I did like the story， it was different and unique and I thought it was nice to show woman as smart competent， clear headed and strong。 To show woman saving the day。 。。。more
